2018 - busier than expected!
Semi-retirement turned out to be busier than I expected on the work front, in 2018.
I worked with a well-funded startup which uses world first compressed air technology, undertook governance and constitution work for multiple societies, supported a large player in the financial service distribution sector in its negotiations with its major supplier, helped 2 charities merge, supported a multinational food company in its negotiations with a supermarket, supported an agricultural services supplier on product and service liability issues, helped a large regional player with the procurement of a media services supplier and peer reviewed multiple advices in the food law area and gave advice on contract interpretation.
Meanwhile Rotorua Airport, a company I chair, built a new emergency operations centre, finished the planning for refurbishment of its arrivals and departures areas (starting this year) and began a masterplan to optimize the use of its 100 site.
Rotorua Economic Development, a company I chair, continued to support the growth being experienced by Rotorua City, in particular the Council’s 2 “big moves” at the lake front and Whaka forest, moved into new premises, continued its transition from a destination marketer to a full economic development agency, supported the growth of local businesses, undertook destination marketing and management activities and helped potential investors understand the opportunities that exist within the City.
